One of my principal interests concerns the process by which modern humans evolved from our ancestors, as well as the subsequent developments that have unfolded during our collective path to the present. We are all part of a grand biological experiment in super-social organization and behavior, and my sense is that we are only at the beginning of an immense journey.

I am fascinated by the possibility that the emergence of a unitary self imbedded within a rich social narrative may have produced an unconscious thought process that underlies the expression of much of our social structure.

I am also fascinated by the rich and kaleidoscopic nature of culture in its material and contextual time development, as well as the individual's changing role and self-perception within this historical sweep.
