Independent Scholar Project Statement

dayjobscholar offers a forum for the independent scholar to share their ideas with a community of like minded individuals. The subject categories are topical but there is no assumed scholarly consensus; hence the freedom to explore and take risks. The goal is to promote: Innovation, exploration and extrapolation, in short, the expansion of thought to the boundaries of the developed disciplines.

dayjobscholar is not for the professional scholar working their field of practice, but instead for the individual who, though employed in other pursuits, is drawn to formally develop a thesis and submit it to the community for consideration and comment.

dayjobscholar is intended to be a host site for independent scholars to post the fruits of their labors, as well as a forum for a community of scholars to discuss and deliberate on their ideas.

NEWS

This is a NEW site (as of 12-31-09) and presently has limited functionality. Much will change as the development processes unfolds.

The Second Temple Judaism department (eventually to become the ancient history, or ancient heritage department) has one submission (one of mine!! on the Interpretation of the Dead Sea Scrolls) as an example that should indicate the type of formatting and annotations I am considering for the various works to be posted (which do not necessarily need to be in "text only" format, of course).

NOTE: Until I have worked out administrative details (©, membership, etc.), I won't be posting works by other authors, but this should not be too long in coming.

If you  have read my work, please contact me (dayjobscholar @ gmail.com) with comments and reactions. In addition, if you have a vision of where this all might lead, please contact me to help design an environment that would work as smoothly and as successfully as possible. I should have a provisional "policy" and "membership" statement on the site in the next few months.
